CCPE’s Membership now includes
most corporate pharmaceutical positions

Background

Did you know that aside from sales representative positions, most pharmaceutical companies have provided limited training and educational support?

Nearly 40 years ago a non-profit pharmaceutical institution was created to provide education programs to improve professional standards within the Canadian pharmaceutical community. The goal was to better meet the needs and expectations of our internal and external stakeholders in the healthcare sector. In 2000 when this institution went through a name change, it was to signal that the Council for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education (CCPE) had expanded beyond its original mandate. In 2008 CCPE offers education solution for many pharmaceutical positions.

Benchmark

When beginning a new role or aiming to develop themselves, most people look for large training organizations that offer public classroom-based courses. Drawbacks to these programs could include:

  • Limited scheduling
  • Time off duty is required
  • No formal evaluations
  • Cost effectiveness is not always optimal
  • May not match everyone’s learning style
  • Not always specific to the pharmaceutical environment
  • Limited learning retention due to lack of learning transfer strategies

A Better Way

Recently certified by SOFEDUC, CCPE has quickly become the largest CEU credit provider in the pharmaceutical community. CCPE delivered nearly 20,000 CEU credits in 2007.
